Blog Closing

Posted in Admin | No Comments »

I’ve decided to let this domain name and my hosting lapse when they come up for renewal in a few weeks. I don’t need the expense and I also don’t really have the time or desire for blogging anymore. If you’re on Twitter and want to follow me I have one account for a mish-mash of topics here and another account just for reality TV here.

Er…hello?

Posted in Admin | 1 Comment »

Wow, I have neglected the shit out of this blog. I have some really good excuses but y’all don’t care about them and, to be quite honest, I don’t feel much like posting about them.

In any case, I’m going to whip this baby back into shape. Look for a new layout, the removal of most of the ads (I just don’t care about trying to make money off this anymore), and some new entries. I may even get that CSI “Sex, Lies & Larvae” recap done! Maybe. Probably not. I don’t know.

Thanks for your patience!

Later: I’m playing around with a possible new layout. What do y’all think? Please let me know in the comments.

The Great American Road Trip 2009: Departure Day

Posted in Travel | No Comments »

mapTo the left is a picture of the ginormous map of America that’s been hanging on my wall since March. In about two hours I will be leaving on a six week road trip around the United States, where I will be visiting friends and seeing the sights. With few exceptions, I will traveling exclusively on state routes and local byways, avoiding the interstates almost entirely.

It is my hope and expectation that I’ll be making weekly posts about my trip that will include pictures and stories about what I’ve seen. If you’d like to follow more regular dispatches from the road, I will be posting frequently to my Twitter account.

Check out pictures from my packed car after the jump!

Lindsay Price stars in Eastwick

Lindsay Price stars in Eastwick

ETA: Well, phooey. I had multiple computer/internet problems so I wasn’t able to get the upfront announcements for NBC, The CW, and CBS up in a timely manner. It’s too late now so check out The Futon Critic for all your upfront news.

Second verse, same as the first. Tomorrow, ABC will announce their fall and (possibly) midseason schedules. Here’s what we know so far:

Returning Shows: Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Ugly Betty, Dancing With The Stars, The Bachelor, Supernanny, Wife Swap, Scrubs, Castle, Better Off Ted, True Beauty.

Canceled Shows: Samantha Who, Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, The Unusuals, In The Motherhood.

New Shows Already Picked Up: V, Eastwick, Happy Town, Cougar Town, The Forgotten, Awesome Hank, The Middle, Flash Forward, Modern Family, Copper.

ABC has a much more ambitious new lineup than FOX and it’ll be interesting to see where they put their new offerings on the schedule. ABC’s schedule has arrived! Check it out after the jump.

CSI Recap: A Space Oddity (Episode 920)

Posted in Links, TV, Writing | No Comments »

Ever since Grissom left CSI has ceased being must-see television for me. However, I would shift my devotion in a heartbeat to a CSI: Lab Techs spin-off. One episode focusing on the lab rats each season is simply not enough.

Episode Summary

The geeks have gathered at WhatIfItCon but one exhibitor isn’t having a good time. Jonathan Danson, who was there to unveil his reboot of the classic and beloved Star Astro Trek Quest is found murdered.

CSI Recap: The Descent Of Man (Episode 919)

This week CSI is back on track after the hideous aberration that was last week’s episode. The team investigates three cases, two of which converge. As for the third, it’s got an ending straight out of a Greek tragedy comedy.

CSI Recap: Mascara (Episode 918)

Posted in Links, TV, Writing | No Comments »

Behold, my first CSI recap at my new job! I struggled a bit with the word limit and I think it will take me a while to get used to that (curse my innate wordiness!) but I hope you all will be patient until I get a handle on the new style. Please go read and comment so my new boss will think I’m worth the paycheck.

I’m still going to be doing the classic CSI recaps here, at least for the forseeable future. Next up is “Sex, Lies and Larvae” and you can vote in the poll on the right to help me decide what to recap after that.

Pilot Watch: New TV Development News 3/23 – 3/27

Seriously, SERIOUSLY epic hotass. Seriously.

Seriously, SERIOUSLY epic hotass. Seriously.

A quick notice about Pilot Watch: since these pilots are going to start filming very soon, casting is starting to wrap up. From this issue until the upfronts in May, the Pilot Watch will be published every two weeks instead of every week. During the upfronts I’ll be posting a daily Pilot Watch with decisions on pickups and rejections.

ABC

The V reboot has added to its cast. The Nine’s Lourdes Benedicto and Smallville’s Laura Vandervoort have recently signed on.

It’s an Arrested Development reunion! Jeffrey Tambor has joined the cast of the Lauren Graham comedy The Bridget Show, produced by Mitch Hurwitz. He’ll be playing Bridget’s business manager.

Amanda Bynes is coming back to television in Canned, a comedy about corporate layoffs. How very timely, not to mention depressing. Do people really want to watch a show about the crappy economy, even a comedy? The charming Bynes deserves better.

CBS

Three Rivers, the new medical drama starring that epic hotass Alex O’Loughlin (hi, Googlers!), has added Julia Ormond and 24’s Joaquim de Almeida to its cast. But seriously, does anyone care about anyone in this cast besides Alex O’Loughlin?

Speaking of epic hotasses, Skeet Ulrich’s new pilot Back has picked up a new cast member. John C. McGinley will be playing a firefighter who married Ulrich’s wife (Sherry Stringfield). That’s what happens when you disappear for 8 years and let your family believe you’re dead, Skeet. If anyone wonders whether McGinley can play a dramatic role, just watch the Scrubs episode where Brendan Fraser’s character dies. If you don’t sob like a baby, you have no soul.

CSI Recap: Unfriendly Skies (Episode 109)

More like FRIENDLY skies, if you know what I mean

More like FRIENDLY skies, if you know what I mean

Previously on CSI, I recapped the pilot and “Cool Change” and then you guys voted for me to recap “Unfriendly Skies” next. This means we’re going to miss the Grissom/Sara face touching and “tie me up” scenes in “Crate ‘n Burial,” Nicky’s pretty tears in “Who Are You?,” and a wee Dakota Fanning in “Blood Drops.” I think y’all need to take a moment and really think about what you’ve done.

A CGI plane flies into McCarran airport in Las Vegas as the sun sets. The pilot radios from the cockpit that emergency personnel and cops will be needed on the ground. I wonder if that has anything to do with the scream and a little kid calling, “Mommy!”

After the plane has landed, Brass meets Grissom and they head into the plane. There’s a dead body on the floor of the first class cabin. All the first class passengers and the one flight attendant, who have been sequestered, claim the man died after a panic attack. Grissom peers around at the signs of vioence and clearly thinks there’s more to it. “I got a dead body, a crime scene with wings…something very wrong happened in this plane.” The rest of us call that “airplane food,” Grissom.
